Mental health Awareness Week - Be kind To Your Mind

This week I took some time out to reflect on everything. My strengths, my weaknesses. My past, my present. My losses, my wins. I remembered the message for Mental Health Awareness Week - Kindness. I thought about what being kind was, and who I was kind towards. I realised in being kind to everyone, I sometimes forgot to be kind to myself as well.

Mental health is all about how you think, how you feel and how you behave. If anything it is how you interact with the world, and how the world interacts with you. During this week I encourage you to give yourself space, for your soul to create and explore. Be kind to yourself and be kind to others, and in all areas of your life be emotionally healthy and emotionally vibrant.

Kindness is defined by doing something towards yourself and others, motivated by a genuine desire to make a positive difference (Mind, 2020). Self-kindness refers to acting in kind and understanding ways towards ourselves. Self- compassion results in greater life satisfaction, emotional intelligence, wisdom and understanding. sometimes all it takes is one act of kindness to change a persons life.

Here are 7 ways to be kind to yourself….

  1. Respect yourself

  2. Forgive yourself

  3. Spend time with yourself

  4. Tell yourself ‘I am enough”…..”I am worthy”

  5. Surround yourself with things and people that make you happy

  6. Stop trying to be perfect, and stop trying to be normal

  7. Accept your insecurity and promotes your strengths

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. kindness in giving creates love - Lao Tzu
